I’ve been driving in my car, its not quite a jaguar.
Was that weekend weather no pure smashing, though taps were still oan, beers were popped, barbecues were oot, sausages were burnt and someplace somewhere Primark clothing accidently went on fire.
Monday was so lovely, and I was just in the mood to go for a drive, maybe head to Girvan for a fish supper and a pokey hat, how good would have that had been. Have to say I’ve no had a desire to go to Girvan for a long time, in fact ever, but I’ve added it on to my bucket list for a visit post lockdown, if anyone wants to come for a day oot, let me know.
By mid-afternoon yesterday I was getting a bit stir crazy, ok a lot stir crazy, ok infinity and beyond stir crazy, I was even bored with myself and that’s no a good sign. Then I thought, even though I can’t go for a drive I could still go in the car, it would be a change of scenery, right? Genius idea!
I got dressed up and put shoes on that had a hard sole, yes, a hard sole, first time in 27 days no trainers, no crocs no bare feet.
I was ready to party I slipped on my shades, filled up my un-spillable glass with red wine (like a training cup for babies), taking the rest of the wine with me I headed into the driveway. For the 4th time in 6 years I pressed the button and brought my car roof down, it was pure delight, nodding to myself and saying yea man every second was exciting and I had the James Bond theme playing in my head.
Dundedun dun dun dun dundedun dun dun dun dundedun dun dun dun dundedun dun dun dun deDON Do do do. Badap ba daa ba da daa ba daa da deda daa Badap ba daa ba da daa ba daa da deda daa Now you do too.
I put the engine on to get power for the stereo and switched if off quickly, I didn’t want to get done for engine idle. I played on repeat, the only CD I have, the running loop challenge soundtrack from 2015. To liven things up, every time the CD repeated, I changed seats, if you’re the car driver how many times have you been in a different seat? You should try it, its pretty cool, well in a lockdown situation, maybe not other times.
I had a great time, I drank my wine, jumped about my car, flashed the lights, sang, beeped the horn, until the car battery died. BARSTEWARD!
Greeting, I dug out the phone number for the RAC, who was I kidding I was half pished.
Still greeting I went back into the house and hoped that the rain stayed off.
PS - un-spillable glasses don’t work when you turn them upside down.
PPS – Never wear a scarf round your neck while driving a convertible on a windy day.
